About Department Numbers

Each separate department at The Ohio State University is assigned its own unique four-digit department number. This directory contains a listing of departments and department numbers, both alphabetically by department name and in department number order. Also included in each list are the "VP numbers." These are the two-digit numbers assigned to the individual colleges or vice presidential areas. Assigning and communicating the department numbers is the responsibility of the Office of the Controller. Within this office, the Accounting Division assigns the numbers and updates them as necessary and Financial Training and Documentation communicates them to the university community.
